What is the difference between general and cosmetic dentistry?

General dentistry focuses on maintaining or restoring your oral hygiene through prevention, diagnosis and treating oral diseases. Cosmetic treatments focus solely on the appearance of your teeth and smile. Please visit our Services page for a list of our most popular treatments.

What type of sterilization techniques does your office practice?

At Refine Dentistry, we strive to use as many disposable products as we can. Suction tips, water sprayers, prophy cups, and the like are used only once and then disposed of after each patient. Virtually all surfaces that come in frequent contact with people, such as chairs in the treatment room, are thoroughly cleaned with a disinfectant/sterilizer that kills viruses and bacteria. All indisposable items, such as instruments and handpieces, are scrubbed and rinsed with a brush and then put in an ultrasonic cleaner to eliminate debris. Once the debris has been removed, the items are placed in one of our two steam autoclaves that sterilize using extremely high pressure and temperatures. We also use a gas (ethylene oxide) sterilizer for items that cannot be sterilized with heat (i.e. plastic instruments, rubber items, and the like.)

What will it cost?

Since all patients are different, your initial comprehensive exam must be completed before establishing your treatment plan and the fee for care. The fee for dental treatment can vary considerably depending on the type of problems and the complexity and length of treatment. An approximate fee can usually be determined at the initial visit; but on occasion, some initial treatment or further diagnostics must be completed before the final treatment plan can be established. Our philosophy of practice is to treat as conservatively as possible to attain treatment goals.
